CAN I GET A SAMPLE EDIT?
Of course! I offer a free sample edit of the first 1,500 words for all new clients, to ensure we are a good match and to allow me to calculate your quote. If you would like to request a sample edit, simply fill out this form.
WHAT KIND OF WORK DO YOU EDIT?
I primarily offer line editing and copyediting for works of fiction but will consider works of non-fiction on a case-by-case basis. I offer proofreading for any type of work.
ARE YOU OKAY WITH GRAPHIC CONTENT?
I have no problem reading and editing graphic content, whether that be blood and gore, or more erotic content if you are a romance writer. Please be aware, however, that I will not accept works that glorify hateful or bigoted behavior.
HOW DO YOU MAKE EDITS?
I make changes and comments using the track changes function on Microsoft Word. Any edits I make will always be suggestions that you can accept, reject, or alter.
I adhere to the guidelines set by the Chicago Manual of Style. Please let me know if you’d prefer I use a different style guide for your project or if you have any personal style preferences. As for spelling, I refer to Merriam-Webster unless you prefer another dictionary.
Your editorial report will be provided as a PDF but your style sheet will be provided as a Microsoft Word document.
HOW DO I/SHOULD I CREDIT YOU?
By no means do you need to credit me as your editor. However, I am flattered if you would like to! Remember, the choice is yours.
If you would like to acknowledge me, the ordinary place would be in the acknowledgments or dedications. There, you can refer to me in any of the following ways:
- Just by first name: Liz or Elisabeth
- Full name & Company Name: Elisabeth Wise & That Bookish Brunette Literary Services
- Just company name: That Bookish Brunette Literary Services
HOW DO I PAY YOU?
I invoice through Dubsado and accept payment via either credit/debit card or ACH Bank Transfer.
For all projects, a non-refundable deposit is due upon signing the contract and the remaining balance is due one week before the project end date as set forth in our contract.
You will receive an invoice via e-mail and within that e-mail will be a link to a payment portal.
