Timeline & Procedure-Editing Services
All potential clients are asked to submit a sample of their manuscript in a Word document for review. The sample should be a fair representation of the current state of the full manuscript so I can confirm that the level of editing you are requesting is a good fit for your manuscript. I will let you know if I believe a different level of editing is needed and reserve the right to reject any manuscript that is not ready for the editing services I offer.
I will conduct a free sample edit of 1500 words, and then, if the manuscript is a good fit for my services, I will provide you with a quote and with both an estimated start date and delivery date. Please let me know if you have any specific deadlines that need to be met, and I will do my best to factor this into my scheduling.
Once we have pinned down our dates, I will send you a contract and an invoice for the retainer fee.
If you need to cancel or change your start date, please let me know as far in advance as possible. I will do my best to accommodate any changes, but please note that any significant changes will be dependent on my schedule and prior commitments. Any cancellations made less than a week in advance of the start date will result in a forfeiture of the retainer.
If you need to change the date I am scheduled to return your manuscript, please let me know as far in advance as possible. I will do my best to accommodate any changes, but again, any significant changes will depend on my schedule and prior commitments. If I have already started working when you request a change in the return date, an additional fee may apply.
Timeline & Procedure-Other Services
If we agree to move forward after the initial consultation, we will agree to a timeframe and I will send you a contract and invoice if applicable.
Fact-checking is an hourly service. You can purchase a package of hours with an upfront payment or the service can be open-ended and you will be invoiced for total hours upon completion.
Editing & Proofreading
I work only on electronic files and edits will be carried out using Microsoft Word’s Track Changes features unless a different format is agreed upon in advance.
It is important to note that there is no guarantee that your manuscript will be returned 100% error-free. While I do my best to catch as many errors as I possibly can, I am not perfect. If, after I have returned the manuscript, you find my work unsatisfactory, please let me know. I am committed to providing the best manuscript I can, and I will work with you until the end to perfect your masterpiece!
Under no circumstances will I be held accountable, by anyone at any time, for errors of veracity, accuracy, or originality in a published manuscript I have worked on, or for formatting errors that appear in the final version.
I invoice through Dubsado and accept payments via credit card and ACH Bank Transfer.
For editing services and book compendiums, the final payment is due one week before the project end date set forth in the contract. The completed project will then be sent on the project end date. If payment has not been received by the project end date, the completed project will be sent within 24 hours of receipt of payment. If payment is not received within one week of the project end date, you may be subject to additional fees for late payment.
Payment for fact-checking is due within 48 hours of invoice, unless a bundled set of hours was purchased, in which payment is due up front.
If you book multiple editing services, the balance of each service must be paid before work will begin on the next service. You will receive an invoice each time a payment is due.
If you refer my company and I am hired by that person, you will receive 10% off your next service.
